I always love Friday links. Oddly enough, the first thing I went to was the link for Comments, Trolls, and Wankers… and forgive me, lost me before it even started with a grammatical pet peeve and then went to something that also made me shake my head. So, if I were to comment there, or here, do I become a Troll or Wanker? Or maybe I’ve been trolled.
It’s a shame because I wish I had a dozen thumbs “…for a reason” and “choose joy”
The first statement offered nothing to the rest of the argument, and finally made me set this to journal, segments of which have been rattling around in my skull for years.
“Apparently I Care a Lot About Who Could and/or Couldn’t Care Less”
The second was “It is what it is”. “And so it goes” is an equivalent platitude, not a better one due to brevity nor because of who originally penned it, in my opinion. And I use that phrase, but not for quelling social or emotional unease… I’m not trying to placate anyone, I just find it quicker and more polite than (And I do mean this in the most lighthearted way possible) “You know I don’t like this, I know you don’t like this, neither one of us can do anything about it, the f%$# do you want me to do? Change the subject, please.” “Shit happens” or “that sucks, man” doesn’t convey to me an invitation to find a solution or a change of topic. Maybe the other two suggest more some hint of “I care”, but I don’t see it. Maybe i am a troll to vent that here. I wasn’t going to do it on a perfect stranger’s blog page 😉
I don’t always approve of every thing in the things I link to. It made me think, so I decided to link to it. 😛
Vent away, sir!
