Friday Political Memes 3/11/2022

Another collection of memes and/or political cartoons I saved and didn’t use to illustrate a post. I’m not sure how long I’m going to keep setting up these later Friday posts in advance to make sure someone posts on Friday in case I have another bad Thursday, but, here you go!

Edited to Add: there was a Friday Five this morning. Check it out!

Midweek Update 6/5/2019: Images of Words

I keep saving various images to possibly use to illustrate a Friday Five post or a political commentary, then wind up using only a fraction of them. So, here are a few of those memes and graphics you may find amusing, enlightening, or thought-provoking:

Pre-Pride Month Reminder : If you are at a Pride event and you see what looks like a m/f couple, and you feel the urge to complain about "straight people ruining Pride" - Bi people belong at Pride - Trans people belong at Pride - Ace and Aro people belong at Pride
Bi, pan, tans, nonbinary, ace, and aro people (and allies!) all are welcome at Pride (click to embiggen)

“we produce enough food for 10 billion humans to live comfortably but capitalism throws almost half of it away for not being pretty enough, profitable enough, or simply because it rotted on the shelf. Scarcity, suffeering are manufactured in order to maintain profitability.”

“Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) suggests former President Ronald Reagan was a racsit and claims he 'pitted white working-class Americans against brown and black working-class Americans to screw over all working-class Americans.” “That's unfair. He was also a homophobe who let thousands of Americans die of AIDS”

Weekend Update 11/18/2017: More pictures, more words

I keep saving various images to possibly use to illustrate a Friday Five post or a political commentary, then wind up using only a fraction of them. So, here are a few of those memes and graphics you may find amusing, enlightening, or thought-provoking:

Weekend Update 9/2/2017: More words and pictures

Often on Saturdays I post some follow-ups to stories that were in the previous day’s weekly roundup of links, or just post commentary on some news items that I found after posting the Friday roundup. But not a whole lot jumped out at me. This is probably because I worked a longer day than I hoped to yesterday, and then I immediately went into holiday weekend mode, so I have been avoiding the news, unless it has to do with my beloved Seahawks. I also save images and memes and such as possible illustrations to blog posts all the time, but only use a fraction of them. So here are some of my recently collected images/memes/what-have-you:

Weekend Update 7/29/2017: More Words and Pictures

I save images and memes and such as possible illustrations to blog posts, but only use a fraction of them. We have a busy weekend including attending a barbecue with friends, so no time to do much writing or commenting on anything that’s happened since I put together this week’s roundup of links, so, here are some of my recently collected images/memes/what-have-you:

“Good friends offer advice and words of wisdom, real friends show up unannounced with vodka, chocolate, glitter, duct tape, cat suits, explosives, and a plan.”

Bush and Cheney destroyed the middle class, then Republicans spent eight years blocking every effort by Obama and the Democrats to rebuild it. Now, Donald Trump is stocking his cabinet with antigoverment billionaires who are hell-bent on dismantling every program that helps the little guy. Do you get it yet?

Oh, and here’s a link I wish I’d had for yesterday’s post: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEATRIX POTTER: AN ODE.

#WhyIStayed #WhyILeft

Why I Stayed:

Because my church, teachers, other relatives, and even a cop (after the incident of the broken collar bone and gash that required stitches) told me that sometimes a father has to go to extremes to make his son a man.

Because when you are raised from birth by your abuser, you think bruises, fractures, and lacerations are normal.

Because my church, other relatives, and even movies and TV told me that standing up for myself was being rebellious.

Because if my story didn’t match his version of events, I would be hurt worse.

Because if I got away, he’d still be able to hurt my mom and my little sister.

Why I Left:

Because the judge hearing my parents’ divorce case actually asked me which parent I wanted to live with, and why.

Unpacking some of the above:

To someone who isn’t in the abusive relationship, the solution always seems simple… Continue reading #WhyIStayed #WhyILeft
